What is Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT)?
CCPT is a counseling approach designed specifically for children. It uses play—their natural language—to help them express feelings, build confidence, and develop healthy coping skills.
What age range of children do you work with?Serving children ages 3-14 years old, though this is not a rigid cutoff. The suitability of therapy for your child will be determined through a consultation.
How long does CCPT take? Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) sessions are 50 minutes long, once per week. Every child’s journey is unique, but research shows the national average is around 30-40 sessions for meaningful and lasting change. Some children complete therapy sooner, while others need a longer process depending on their goals, history, and life circumstances.
Why does it take this long?
True emotional growth takes time. The relationship your child builds in the playroom is the foundation for healing and confidence. The process moves at their pace—not ours—to ensure lasting change.
Do parents participate?
The playroom is your child’s space. Sessions are one-on-one with the child and therapist, but parent/caregiver check-ins are scheduled every 5 sessions to share updates and collaborate on support at home.
What changes will I see?
Parents/caregivers often notice improved emotional regulation, less frustration, and more confidence. These changes develop gradually as your child feels understood and gains tools to cope.
Do you accept insurance? Services are self-pay, however, I accept HSA/FSA and am happy to provide superbills you can submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
Do you prescribe medication? I am not a prescribing provider.
