Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) is a gentle, evidence-based approach that gives children the space and freedom to express themselves in the way they know best—through play. Just like adults use words to process thoughts and emotions, children use play as their natural language. In the playroom, toys become their words and play becomes their conversation.
In CCPT, the therapist creates a safe, accepting environment where the child leads the way. Rather than directing or instructing, the therapist follows the child’s lead—offering empathy, connection, and support as the child works through emotions, explores relationships, and builds inner strength. Over time, children begin to feel more confident, understood, and capable of managing challenges in their everyday lives.
This approach respects each child’s pace and uniqueness, and is especially helpful for kids experiencing anxiety, behavioral challenges, big transitions, or difficulties with emotional regulation. The goal isn’t to "fix" the child—it’s to support them in discovering their own ability to grow, cope, and thrive.
